This week (12 July) saw the passing of Sherwood Schwartz, the creator of the popular American TV shows Gilligan’s Island (1964 – 1967) and The Brady Bunch (1969 – 1974). These shows have lived on and have been enjoyed by many generations thanks to re-runs. It’s hard to believe that when they first aired they were panned by critics!
I for one loved these shows growing up (thanks to the constant re-runs on Aussie telly). To this day, I will still stop what I’m doing if I happen to come across an episode of Gilligan’s Island (I had such a crush on the professor) or Brady Bunch (I loved Bobby) on the telly.
Thanks for the happiness Mr Schwartz! RIP
