It’s always fabulous to hear good news. There was good news a plenty this week from Hollywood when Kate Hudson & Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy announced the arrival of their baby son, and David & Victoria Beckham announced the arrival of their baby daughter.
I understand this making the news but what I can’t understand, or handle, is when the media think it’s OK to talk about these children as they grow up. None of these children asked to be in the spotlight – it’s their parents who are in the spotlight. These kids should not have to feel the pressure of being under the media gaze/spotlight. Their looks, character, fashion sense, etc. should not be dissected/analyzed.
I really detest that publications have ‘celebrity baby’ sections. These sections feature photos of the celebs and their children (I only checked it out as research for this post and won’t be going back!) and there’s even a section on where to get so-and-so’s kids’ clothes so your child can be just like them! These children are not here for other kids to look up to and/or try to be them, or for us to be entertained by them! Let these kids be kids, and, if they choose to follow in their parents footsteps when they are older, then yes focus on them but for now, let them be kids!
I really hope this is something that stops very soon!
(In this case I don’t like that) That’s Entertainment!
