Dowling is really looking forward to his new role. He said: “I am so excited about this opportunity to host one of the most talked-about shows on TV. It is 10 years since I won Big Brother so what better way to celebrate and mark that anniversary than to be asked to host the new series. It’s on a new channel and a fresh start for the show that has kept the nation entertained for 11 years and I am so excited to be a part of it!
He also tweeted:
“I am very happy to say that I shall be hosting Big Brother this year for Ch5!It still hasn’t sunk in yet!!”
How is he starting his gig as BB host?
“First day as official BB presenter and off to the gym!!Not what I imagined!!!x”
Emma Willis, who hosted the spin off show on Channel 4 (Big Brother’s Little Brother) will host the spinoff show on channel 5, Big Brother’s Bit On The Side. It sounds like the show will be similar to the channel 4 one, with evicted housemates, famous superfans and pop culture experts all appearing on the show.
Also, returning to Big Brother is Marcus Bentleigh, the narrator of the show.
Celebrity Big Brother will kick things off on Channel 5 on August 18 (rumoured start date). There are rumours that Amy Whinehouse is amongst the celebrity housemates but I really can’t see this happening. I’ll be glued to the show if she does.
The new series of Big Brother will start when Celebrity Big Brother ends.I don’t mean to be cynical but, I wonder how different this show will be to the one that became same old same old, on channel 4?
That said, good luck to Brian Dowling and Emma Willis!
