Dear Misters Abrams and Spielberg,
I just want to say thank you for a fun night at the cinema! Super 8 is brilliant! It has been a long time since I have wanted to get up and cheer at the end of a film, but that’s exactly what I did when the credits started rolling on Super 8.
After a spate of really bad films, Super 8 has renewed my faith and love in cinema. Super 8 has made me remember why I have loved going to the movies since my first ever cinema experience (which, by the way, was ET). Thank you for that!
Thanks for not being lazy and for respecting your audience. Thanks for staying away from 3D. For realising that audiences aren’t fooled into thinking they are seeing a film with substance just because it’s made in 3D.
Thanks for showing other film makers that a 2D movie does work. It does work if that film has a heart and a great story, just like Super 8 does. Super 8 made me laugh, cry, and had me on the edge of my seat.
Thanks again for being the leaders in Hollywood by using the tried and tested, good old fashioned way, of just telling a story, and for using actors to tell it rather than rely on ‘stars’ to attract an audience.
Thanks for making going to the cinema a fun and magical place all over again!
Thanks for transporting me to a land of make believe where I believe the impossible is possible.
Now, That’s Entertainment!
