Rove McManus has been off Australian telly since his successful Rove Live ended in 2009. Instead of staying in Australia and doing the same old same old, he decided to move Stateside and try his luck there.
After a year in LA, Rove is coming back to Fox 8 (Australian television) with his new LA based chat show show Rove LA.
Rove LA, is not too dissimilar to Rove Live, in that Rove will host the show, chat to Hollywood stars (the fact that the show is based in LA means that the calibre of guests he has access too is greater than what he had in Australia), and it will be filmed in front of a live audience.
However, Rove told news.com.au that there will be a different feel to Rove LA, “the starting point for me with Rove LA was the end point of where the show used to be (the Channel 10 show’s final segment involved all its guests gathered in an informal setting). The first thing I wanted with the new show was for it to feel quite loose. There will still be a structure, but I want the freedom to allow the show to just go anywhere.”
The calibre of stars on the first 2 shows are quite impressive. Entourage’s Jerry Ferrara, Friends’ Lisa Kudrow and comedian Kathy Griffin will appear on the first Rove LA. The second show will see Rove chatting to Steve Carell, Hugh Jackman and Project Runway’s Tim Gunn.
Not only is Rove coming back to Fox 8 in Australia but, we, over here in Ireland/UK will also get to see his show when it debuts on E!
Rove is one of the most likeable guys on Australian telly, so it’s good to see him back and great to see him on this side of the world too! I really do hope that this show is a success for him and who knows, this may also lead to him getting his own show on an US cable network – something he really wants to do.
Rove LA premieres in Australia on Fox 8 on Monday 19 September at 8.30 and in Ireland/UK on E! Tuesday 20 September at 10pm.
That’s Entertainment!
