Pop star Pink (real name Alecia Moore) has scored her first major film role (yes she has been in films before – most notably Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, and she will be the singing voice for Gloria in the upcoming Happy Feet Two, but these were cameos/small roles). Pink will join Gwyneth Paltrow, Mark Ruffalo, Joely Richardson, and Tim Robbins, in the comedy Thanks for Sharing.
According to imdb.com Thanks for Sharing is a “comedy centered around three people undergoing 12-step treatment for sex addiction”. It is being directed and co-written by The Kids Are All Right co-writer Stuart Blumberg, and it has an anticipated 2012 release.
In a press release Blumberg said about Pink’s casting, “Alecia could not be a more ideal fit for this role. She carries with her just the right combination of heart and edginess for the part of Dede, and we’re incredibly excited to share her acting talent with audiences.”
The film started shooting in September with Pink joining yesterday.
On paper, it looks like Pink has chosen a great film to make her major acting debut in – there’s a fab cast, great writer and it sounds like an original story that could be both deep and hilarious at the same time. I, for one, am really looking forward to seeing this.
