Warner Bros will stop supplying the Harry Potter DVDs/Box sets/etc. to retailers on December 29, in a move to pull the DVDs off the market. But fans don’t worry as I am sure they will be back on shelves in a couple of years time – in snazzier new packaging and with some ‘never seen before’ special footage.
This is similar to how Disney deal with their DVD/Blue Ray titles. Disney has long released its classic animated movies for limited times. By going on sale for a limited time, after being off the market for years, this has ensured that the titles fly off the shelves. It also gives Disney a chance to add something to the DVDs and called it a Limited/Special Edition. This is a great marketing plan and no doubt Warner Bros are hoping the same will happen with the Harry Potter franchise in years to come – which by the way has already earnt them over $12.1billion!
According to the Hollywood Reporter “Warners said it will stop shipping all titles, including box sets and special and limited editions. That includes the final title in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which hits stores Nov. 11, as well as Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection.”
Below is the trailer for the very first Harry Potter film – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone/Sorcerer’s Stone (Depending on which country you’re living in)
Hi,
I’m Sarina Bellissimo and this is the place I come to indulge in my love of all things entertainment. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t fascinated by all things Hollywood/showbiz. I blame my parents!
As a child my mum used to force me to watch old Elvis Presley films with her, and both my mum & dad would take my brothers and I to the Drive-In to watch the latest films (this is where my love for ROCKY began!). When not watching movies, I was trying to figure out ways to pull the back off the TV so I could somehow get into it and be a part of all the action on the screen!
This blog isn’t a place that revels in gossip and negativity. It’s a place where entertainment is celebrated. That said, this is a place you can turn to for honesty. Honesty and criticism don’t always mean attacks. I choose to criticise the piece of work but not the person and I acknowledge that just because I don’t like something, it doesn’t mean someone else won’t.
Here you’ll find interviews with some of the biggest names in the world of Entertainment, reviews, breaking news and my very own musings.
Away from The Bellissimo Files, you can find me on Spin 1038 on Saturdays, between 1pm and 3pm,presenting Plan B.
