Review: KATY PERRY: A PART OF ME

Katy Perry: A Part of Me is part concert film, part behind the scenes, and part insight into who Katy Perry is.

As Katy embarks on her biggest ever world tour, she gives the audience a glimpse into her life. She shares her struggles to live out her dream. From her humble beginnings as a gospel singer, to being signed by record companies who didn’t know what to do with her, to finally hitting the big time with her first single I Kissed A Girl, to falling in and out of love.

Fans will feel like they really are getting a part of Katy as she shares some home video footage, video journal entries from a young Katy, and allows family and friends to talk about the Katy they know and love.

At the beginning of the world tour Katy was a married woman but by the end it was a different story. She hasn’t shied away from showing her relationship with Russell Brand on screen, with Brand even making a couple of appearances. Katy starts by gushing about her love for Brand and how she is trying to make the marriage work. When it all crumbles, she allows the cameras to capture her reaction to the divorce. Her breakdowns are heartbreaking, however, it does feel a little unfair to Brand as it feels like he is the one to blame and he gets no right of reply.

The film is not all heartbreak and sadness though as Katy spreads cheer and inspiration to many around the world. The fan testimonials at the beginning and the end of the film, spouting how amazing Katy is and what an inspiration she is to, them feels a bit self induglent but, that said, Katy is having a positive impact in many people’s lives and that’s never a bad thing.

Katy has to be admired for encouraging her fans to be themselves and to live out their dreams. This film shows a gutsy, go and get it girl who is the person she wants to be and didn’t have to be cruel or ruthless to make her dreams comes  true.

Being a big personality, it is only fitting that this be played out in 3D. For once the 3D actually works! This film uses it the way it was intended to be used. The 3D is bright, fun and pops – just like the woman herself!

Katy Perry: A Part of Me is definitely for the fans – the Katy Kats. However, if you are dragged along you may still enjoy it. This is more than just a concert movie, audiences walk away feeling they got a part of Katy Perry, not all of her – but definitely a part of her!

About The Bellissimo Files

Hi, I’m Sarina Bellissimo and this is the place I come to indulge in my love of all things entertainment. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t fascinated by all things Hollywood/showbiz. I blame my parents! As a child my mum used to force me to watch old Elvis Presley films with her, and both my mum & dad would take my brothers and I to the Drive-In to watch the latest films (this is where my love for ROCKY began!). When not watching movies, I was trying to figure out ways to pull the back off the TV so I could somehow get into it and be a part of all the action on the screen! This blog isn’t a place that revels in gossip and negativity. It’s a place where entertainment is celebrated. That said, this is a place you can turn to for honesty. Honesty and criticism don’t always mean attacks. I choose to criticise the piece of work but not the person and I acknowledge that just because I don’t like something, it doesn’t mean someone else won’t. Here you’ll find interviews with some of the biggest names in the world of Entertainment, reviews, breaking news and my very own musings. Away from The Bellissimo Files, you can find me on Spin 1038 on Saturdays, between 1pm and 3pm,presenting Plan B. There’s celebrity interviews, entertainment news, the low down on the must see movies and music releases of the week, the ultimate guide to what’s on where in the city, as well as masterclasses with experts on standby to answer listeners’ questions. I also appear on TV3’s “Elaine” panel, talk movies on “Ireland AM” and you can sometimes hear me filling in on Moncrieff’s “Movies and Booze “(Newstalk) The Bellissimo Files is constantly evolving. Files (topics) will be added or deleted as time goes on. Feel free to read, watch, comment, share, and make suggestions for what you would like to see on the site. Sarina
