It looks like Ellen DeGeneres’ wish may finally be coming true. After many years of begging for a Finding Nemo sequel, it looks like it could be about to happen!
Disney/Pixar are refusing to confirm this news but the internet is rife with speculation that Andrew Stanton, who wrote and directed the original film, has signed on to direct the sequel, which is rumored to be slated for a 2016 release.
According to digitalspy.co.uk, “little is known about the plot of the upcoming sequel, although Deadline reports that executives at both Pixar and Disney are thrilled with Stanton’s concept for the follow-up”.
If it feels like all that’s coming out of Pixar at the moment are sequels, don’t despair as there are 3 original projects in the works. According to hollywoodreporter.com they are, “The Good Dinosaur (directed by Bob Peterson and slated for May 30, 2014); untitled inside the mind project (from Up‘s Pete Doctor, with a June 19, 2015 release); and an untitled movie about Dia de los muertos (directed by Nemo co-director Lee Unkrich).
