Ellen’s going to Australia!
Ellen made the announcement on her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, yesterday while chatting to Australian actress Nicole Kidman.
Not only will Ellen be going to Australia, but so will each of the 400 audience members at the taping.
Unlike Oprah’s trip to Australia, Ellen will not be taking the audience with her (each audience member received an airline ticket to travel to Sydney or Melbourne on any date in the next 12 months with six nights’ accommodation at a four-star hotel), nor will the show be recorded there. Instead, Ellen will tape pieces and skits in Sydney and Melbourne to be played out on the show in April.
Even though Ellen’s wife, Portia De Rossi, is originally from Australia (Geelong, a town just outside of Melbourne), this will be her first ever visit to the country.
Ellen told Nine News, that “the trip to Australia would be “amazing” for me and my audience members … I just always wanted to go, it just seems like a beautiful place to be, I won’t have time to go to all the different places that I want to go but Sydney and Melbourne are a good start.”
Ellen also said that she hopes to meet as many Australian fans as possible while there.

Ellen’s Australian segments will go to air in the US in April.
