Alf Stewart is Summer Bay – the place wouldn’t be the same without him. So today, I’m going to have a look back at what makes everyone love the legend of Summer Bay, Mr. Alf Stewart
Alf Stewart seems to have his own language. Many of his conversations include ‘Alfisms’. These especially come to the fore when he is angry. Here’s a classic scene of Alf getting ‘flamin mad’. Terms include gallah, drongo, and of course lots of flamins!
We all know tht one of Alf’s favourite words is ‘Flamin’. Here is a fan tribute to Alf and his love of ‘flamin’.
You know Alf is serious and very angry when not even he uses one of his ‘Alfisms’. Here’s a classic clip of him confronting Jessie after Chloe’s death.
Alf’s not the most romantic bloke but has a heart of gold. Watch as he tries to propose to his one and only true love, Ailsa (keep watching after the credits).
Alf doesn’t get very emotiional often but when Sally Fletcher left the Bay, he found it hard to keep it together.
Everyone loves Alf, so when he turned 60, many of Summer Bay’s former residents came back to help him celebrate. There are many tears as Sally Fletcher sums up why everyone loves Alf Stewart (this also features early Home and Away highlights)!
It’s only fitting that we end this with the actor who plays Alf, Ray Meagher, winning an award for his work. In 2010 Ray won the Gold Logie, the biggest award in Australian television. His acceptance speech shows that he is just as funny and loveable as his character Alf!
