Last night Hollywood’s A-listers came together to celebrate the year that was at the movies in 2013 at the 86th Annual Academy Awards.
The ceremony goes on for what feels like forever, and as the night goes on the audience end up looking bored and uncomfortable. Last night, however, it felt like the audience genuinely had fun.
Below are some of the biggest moments from the night.
Ellen’s Moments
Ellen DeGeneres was back as host (first hosting in 2007). She refused to be mean spirited in her joke and brought a light heartedness feel to the awards ceremony. While it was fun, it did sometimes feel like we were watching an extended version of her talk show, The Ellen Show.

Performances
Pink’s Over The Rainbow
Pink proved last night that she does not always have to be suspended upside down high above the audience, while singing, to amaze and move us. Check out her stunning version of one of the best movie songs ever.
Pharrell Williams gets the crowd Happy
While he walked the red carpet with out it (but still caused much talk on the carpet, thanks to his tuxedo shorts), the hat was back for Pharrell’s perfomance.
It was more than just about the hat though. Pharrell’s performance set the mood for the night. It was high energy. He had the crowd on their feet and even danced with A-listers Lupita Nyong’o, Meryl Streep & Amy Adams
U2 – Ordinary Love
U2 had the audience in the palm of their hands
Bette Middler

Bill Murray
Bill Murray made a touching tribute to fellow actor, ghostbuster and friend Harold Ramis, while reading out the nominations for Achievement in Cinematography.
So that’s it for another year. It’s been fun celebrating the power of cinema – the fact that it can take us anywhere and make us feel so many different things – passion, anger, escapism, fun, and the list goes on. I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2014!
