Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed that even after the disaster that was Sex and the City 2, a third installment, of what has now become a fashion franchise, will be hitting the big screen in the near future. She has also hinted at knowledge of the storyline.
Parker didn’t give too much away, telling Parade, “I know what the story is. It’s a small story, but I think it should be told. The question is, what’s the right time to tell it?”
For a long time there was talk of a prequel, however writer Michael Patrick King doesn’t want to go backwards with this story, he only wants to move it forward. According to the Hollywood Reporter, King said”My Carrie Bradshaw started at 33, and I took her to 43. I didn’t even want to know who Carrie Bradshaw’s parents were because I thought she only existed in Manhattan. So for me, the idea of going backwards and making her less evolved … is something that I don’t imagine doing.”
Kirstin Davis agress with King about the prequel, however she is keen to come back for a third film saying, “I’m always hopeful and I always believe there’s another story to tell because these are these women’s lives so why wouldn’t there be another chapter, [but] I don’t know if it will happen.”
After the disappointing results of the last movie, for both fans and the producers, I can’t see this happening soon. I think the dust will have to settle, fans will have to have a bit of time to forget about what happened in the sequel before they are ready to accept the girls, and their fabulous fashion, on the big screen again!
