LINCOLN European Premiere Photo Highlights

This afternoon, Hollywood came to Dublin, as Daniel Day Lewis, Sally Field and Steven Spielberg held the European premiere of the film in the Savoy Cinema, Dublin, as part of The Gathering Ireland 2013.

Cast

Sally Field was the first Hollywood legend to walk the red carpet. Field, an amazing actress and stunning woman, said she was thrilled to be in Dublin & that, Oscars or not, she has to fight hard for all of her roles!

Stephen Spielberg was next up. He took the time to talk to as many as possible on the red carpet (as did Sally and Daniel) as he was thrilled to be back in Ireland. Steven told me he still gets nervous on the film set. He doesn’t rest on his past successes – every film is like starting over. Spielberg also said that he appreciates all of his awards and the recognition.

Even though a bunch of mics were shoved into Steven Spielberg’s face, (there’s my spin mic in amongst it) he still made you feel like you were the only one in the room he was talking to!

Daniel Day Lewis, the man we have to thank for getting these amazing stars and this fabulous night to Dublin, was last, but not least. He told me he was really excited, that against all odds, he was able to make an occasion of Lincoln’s opening in Ireland/Europe. And he is even more pleased that it is all in honour of, and to raise funds for, the much needed Wicklow Hospice.

One of my favourite photos I took at this Premiere is this one. Check out Sally and Daniel having a laugh in the background – & of course the legend in the foreground 🙂

Hollywood Stars like this don’t come to town often, and as a result, many of Ireland’s own came to the Savoy to celebrate, and help raise vital funds for the Wicklow Hospice.

The Edge and his wife Morleigh were in attendance. They posed for photos, acknowledged the media, but unfortunately did not stop to chat.

The Edge & Morleigh

Bono and Ali followed The Edge and Morleigh. With all the flashbulbs that go off when Bono comes into the room, there’s no doubt why he always has to wear the glasses.

Great Irish Director Jim Sheridan also turned up to watch the film and catch up with his old buddy Steven. Jim told me that no matter how much work he gets in Hollywood, he will always live in Ireland! He is working on his next film Sherriff Street.

Lincoln even managed to get President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina to the cinema! He is thrilled to have such an event in Ireland to support the Gathering.

Big Kudos to Daniel Day Lewis for bringing Lincoln and the stars home with him! It’s an afternoon we won’t be forgetting in a hurry!

That’s Entertainment!

About The Bellissimo Files

Hi, I’m Sarina Bellissimo and this is the place I come to indulge in my love of all things entertainment. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t fascinated by all things Hollywood/showbiz. I blame my parents! As a child my mum used to force me to watch old Elvis Presley films with her, and both my mum & dad would take my brothers and I to the Drive-In to watch the latest films (this is where my love for ROCKY began!). When not watching movies, I was trying to figure out ways to pull the back off the TV so I could somehow get into it and be a part of all the action on the screen! This blog isn’t a place that revels in gossip and negativity. It’s a place where entertainment is celebrated. That said, this is a place you can turn to for honesty. Honesty and criticism don’t always mean attacks. I choose to criticise the piece of work but not the person and I acknowledge that just because I don’t like something, it doesn’t mean someone else won’t. Here you’ll find interviews with some of the biggest names in the world of Entertainment, reviews, breaking news and my very own musings. Away from The Bellissimo Files, you can find me on Spin 1038 on Saturdays, between 1pm and 3pm,presenting Plan B. There’s celebrity interviews, entertainment news, the low down on the must see movies and music releases of the week, the ultimate guide to what’s on where in the city, as well as masterclasses with experts on standby to answer listeners’ questions. I also appear on TV3’s “Elaine” panel, talk movies on “Ireland AM” and you can sometimes hear me filling in on Moncrieff’s “Movies and Booze “(Newstalk) The Bellissimo Files is constantly evolving. Files (topics) will be added or deleted as time goes on. Feel free to read, watch, comment, share, and make suggestions for what you would like to see on the site. Sarina
